Clue Number One
Where a dapper man with wealth and will, showed benevolence to those humble still.
Halfway down twelve in a line, STOP where shadows fall to mark the fleeing of time.

SOLVED
The solution...
The first clue led us to the bus stop opposite the sundial at the centre of the Alms Houses on Bexley High Street.
These 12 alms houses, known as Styleman’s Alms-houses, were built in 1755 for families in need in Bexley Village.
They were funded through the will of John Styleman — our ‘dapper man’ — a wealthy Director of the East India Company who lived nearby at Danson Park and set up a trust to provide the homes.
At the centre of the row stands the iconic sundial, marked with the Latin phrase Tempus Fugit — “time flies”. And, just opposite, there is the bus STOP that brought the clue neatly to its answer.
An easy starter...things are about to get slightly more tricky!
